Meguiar’s Hyper Wash Car Soap: Hyper Wash Original – 1gal / Watermelon Blast 1gal – 32oz
There are tons of car wash soaps to pick from, which can be tough for those who are overwhelmed with the amount of choices. Some car soaps offer various additives which can leave behind additional gloss, but for people who want a soap that doesn’t leave anything behind (perfect if you want to do a full detail), you’ll need a car soap that is solely a car soap.
One of the most popular options for a long time now is Meguiar’s Hyper Wash. This car soap is extremely popular because of its tried-and-true formula, which does the job of cleaning your job well while leaving no additives behind. Meguiar’s even has a new scent called Watermelon Blast, which continues to offer you the same performance but with a brand new candy-like scent.

Hyper Wash mixes up at a soap-to-water ratio of: 1:400. This amounts to about an ounce of soap to a couple gallons of water. Meguiar’s sells Hyper Wash in a 16 oz. bottle, which can do about 8+ washes, while the larger 1 gallon size can wash your car more than 60 times! I’ve had my original 1 gallon Hyper Wash for years now and I am still haven’t run out to this day. Buying a whole gallon can really save you a lot of money in the long run since it only costs about $10 more than the 16 oz. size.

I’ve neglected washing my truck for a long time, so it is covered in dirt, bug guts, and all kinds of gunk. It’s been probably a few months since I last washed it. I’ve been using the original Hyper Wash for many years already, but I got to try out the new Watermelon Blast version of Hyper Wash on my truck.

The soap suds up really well, without being too slick. I use these microfiber wash mitts, which in my opinion are the best type of wash mitts to clean your car with. These particular ones are ones that we sell because of how good they work. I’ve tried all kinds of wash mitts and these work the best at even contact, soap application, and minimizing scratching of the paint.
Hyper Wash does a great job at foaming up and staying on your paint, which is accentuated when used with a microfiber wash mitt. I’ve had good results with using this soap with a foam cannon, foam gun, or even a plain ‘ol wash bucket.

The newest scented formula, Watermelon Blast, doesn’t look like the original formula. It has an interestingly fluorescent red color to it and smells exactly like a Watermelon flavored Jolly Rancher candy. If you don’t like your car wash soaps being too fruity or candy-like, this is probably not for you and you should stick with the original formula. Personally, I like it and love switching between the original and new scented Hyper Wash every other wash.

The soap suds up really nicely, but washes off easily without leaving any residue. This is usually my go-to car soap when I plan to do a mechanical/chemical decontamination and/or if I need to apply a last step protectant like wax, paint sealant, or coating.

It’s hard to go wrong with Meguiar’s Hyper Wash Car Soap. If you want the perfect car soap that doesn’t leave any additives behind, just make it easy on yourself and get this soap. There’s no need to try the insane amount of car soap options out there, this one will always get the job done and leave you with a blank slate ready for the next step in your detail.
